Lagos thugs will be nailed on Election Day – Farotimi

Doyin Adekoya
Lagos thugs will have no free rein on Saturday because they will be dealt with by Nigerians, according to
Dele Farotimi, a lawyer and civil rights activist.
Dele said despite a call out to the Nigerian police and the Lagos Commissioner of Police to get the
“agberos” that are causing problems arrested, nothing had been done on the menace.

He said Lagosians would prove to the touts that the former are not cowards by coming out to vote on
Saturday.
One way of dealing with the miscreants is the use of cameras to trap any thug that intends to disrupt the
electoral process.
He said that Peter Obi had warned his supporters not to engage in any form of violence because the
courts would settle all these assaults based on the evidences that would be used to foster their case in
court.

I am cognisant of the fact that on Saturday a lot of people remembering what INEC did in the last
election, would be despondent to the point where they might believe that it would be more profitable
to be disconnected from that system, said Farotimi.
“I’m of the firm opinion that the only thing we are left with is to continue to assert our rights, if INEC
continues to prove itself to be incompetent. Of course, Lagos thugs will appear on Saturday but we will
nail them down with our Cameras. We will make sure that we gather evidences of what they are doing.
We will deny legitimacy to this evil. We cannot shrug our shoulders and move on, the cosmic balance
has been thrown into Tails spin. Somebody grabbed what he was not given by force but it will not
change the fact that we did not give it to him. This is forced on us and we will resist it.”
