Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has turned a deaf ear to appeals that he should accept the outcome of the February 25 election as God’s will and allow peace to reign.

Obi says he respects the prominent Nigerians, especially the church leaders, traditional rulers, for what they are doing in the society, but he does not agree with them because what they are preaching is the problem of Nigeria.

Speaking on Arise Tv morning show today, Obi says the prominent leaders telling him to accept the outcome of the election as God’s way missed the point. There were several infractions in the electoral process, according to him.

Bowing to such pressure is to accept wrong doing and accepting what is unacceptable is using God’s name in vain and God does not want it.

What they are saying is not God’s wish, plan for Nigeria, and why don’t we accept that the 133 million Nigerians who are poor is God’s wish or 95 million living in absolute poverty is God’s wish, or is it God’s wish we don’t have electricity and children been kidnapped? Obi asks.

God’s wish, according to Obi, is that you do the right thing.

It would be recalled that there have been claims and counter-claims since the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, as the president-elect, having floored the People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and Obi in the poll.

However, the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council has disclosed that the lawyers of the Labour Party presidential candidate are making headway with their inspection of electoral materials for the February 25 presidential poll.

The head of the legal team, Dr Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), who led 60 lawyers to the meeting with the electoral commission boss, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said the team was running against the deadline to file its petition against the result of the presidential poll.

“We have 21 days to file a petition on behalf of our client. Out of 21 days, we probably have about 10 days to go and up till now, we have not received any documents.”
